The Kerala Muslim Educational Association(KMEA) was established way back in the year 1958 with the noble aim of setting up educational and social institutions, promoting education and training among minority communities and providing financial assistance to the economically weak and deserving students. The late Sree. Poker Sahib, an eminent Parliamentarian and Philanthropist, and late Sree. K. M. Seethi Sahib, former speaker of the Kerala Legislative assembly were the key forces behind the KMEA. The former Chief Minister of the Kerala late C. H. Mohammed Koya had also actively participated in the formation and promoting this Association. Activities of this association are spread over the fields of education and philanthropy, with the special emphasis in uplifting of the downtrodden and rehabilitation of the poor and weaker sections of our society.
At present KMEA runs KMEA Engineering College, KMEA College of Arts and Science, and KMEA College of Architecture – all in the Kuzhivelipady Campus , Seethi Sahib Memorial Polytechnic College at Tirur, Malappuram and Abdulla Haji Ahmed Sait Memorial KMEA Al Manar HS School, Edathala, Aluva. Ever Since establishment, KMEA has been extending financial assistance and scholarships to the needy, meritorious and talented students for their higher education, especially professional and technical fields. In the last five years alone, the scholarships and stipends amounted to more than one Crore Rupees. In addition to it several poor students irrespective of their caste have been admitted in the tuition fee waiver scheme at the KMEA engineering College.
