Established in 2009, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has been successful in nurturing experts through sound academic support and commitment to research. The teaching resources, dedicated staff, sophisticated laboratories and library, efficiently meet the requirements of undergraduate and post graduate students here. The annual intake is 60 for under graduate students and 24 for post graduate students. The program also entertains a lateral entry for Diploma holders as per AICTE norms in the 3rd semester.

Prof. REENA SEBASTIAN, who has over 22 years of teaching experience heads the department backed by a team of motivated and experienced teachers graduated from institutions of good repute like NIT.

Future Plans

Short Term Plan

The Department has the following plans to mould the college as a centre of excellence.

  • To go for NBA accreditation in order to promote international quality standards for education.

  • To develop Systems lab, Electronic Circuits lab and CAD lab specially for B.Tech EEE course.

  • To start a post graduate program on Power Systems in addition to the existing Power Electronics program.

Long Term Plan

  • To setup a fully equipped Power Quality laboratory to provide training for the students as well as the engineers involved in various electrical fields.

  • To concentrate on research and development activities in the area of power quality and power electronics and to take up consultancy work in such areas.

Academics

Undergraduate Programmes (B.Tech.)

  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The Department of EEE offers B. Tech. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. The program provides excellent technical knowledge in the emerging areas of Electrical Engineering along with the required supporting knowledge of mathematics, science, computing, and engineering fundamentals. The program also includes in depth study and analysis of Electrical Technology, Power Systems, Control Systems, Circuit Theory, Digital Signal Processing and Soft Computing etc. The laboratory works develop the basic skills needed to formulate problems, to perform and design experimental projects.

Postgraduate Programmes (M.Tech.)

  • Power Electronics

The objective of the post graduate course on Power Electronics is to introduce the student to various types of power electronic devices and control of electric power using these devices. The program is structured to cover the fundamentals, application areas through a set of core subjects and electives which the students can select based on their interest followed by a project work. In the project work, the students are encouraged to work on specific application areas involving design, simulation, fabrication and testing of any power electronics system having industrial applications.

Lab Facilities

The department has sophisticated laboratories that equip students for future work.  

The Electrical Measurement Lab helps to acquaint students with various electrical parameters and verify different network theorems. 

The Electrical workshop helps the student to understand the fundamental concepts in the field of Electrical Engineering.
The Electrical Machines Lab, lays a foundation for the study of electrical machines, best suited for fundamental and advanced research and training.
The Control and Simulation Lab helps students to develop keen interest towards Electrical Engineering.
The Power Electronics Lab helps to provide work experience with the concepts of power electronics.
